Little Blue Heavy Experiment
This little vase was a big test in pushing my glaze as far as it will go. I made this glaze to get the blue-est blue. I wanted it to move and flow like the ocean and I had to test how far I could push it. This piece demonstrates the glaze’s limit in both thickness, colour and temperature.
The glaze was applied much thicker, fired slightly higher and thus has developed more movement and a more saturated colour. As you can see, the glaze broke through its surface tension at the base and started to flow off the pot, amazingly the piece was saved and not destroyed in the process of separating it from the kiln shelf. Its a great demonstration on the liquid qualities of glaze at top temperature.
This vase is suitable for both flowers and water
